Mission Hospital – Mission Viejo was founded in 1971 as Mission Community Hospital. Our mission was to provide acute care hospital services to the residents of the rapidly growing communities in south Orange County. The original hospital was a one-story, 124-bed facility that included 76 general medical/surgical beds, 12 obstetrical beds and 36 beds divided among special uses including a pediatric unit, intensive care unit, and coronary observation.
Over the years, we have dramatically grown our facilities and expanded and enhanced our clinical capabilities. Recent developments include the opening of a 94,000 square foot patient care tower that features some of the most advanced diagnostic and imaging services in the world.
As South County continues to grow and new healthcare services are needed, Mission Hospital will continue to meet these needs against the backdrop of a changing healthcare landscape. Our commitment to the underserved remains unchanged as we support numerous community benefit programs and provide millions in charity care.
